Shell Recruitment Day

Hello! For this entry, I would like to share my experience going through the SRD with you. I was shortlisted under Commercial IT stream. After the phone interview with Shell, they will get back to you (email) in order for you to confirm your attendance for SRD. The SRD was held in two days:

1. Day 1: Pre-SRD Briefing (in the afternoon; 1400H-1630H)
2. Day 2: SRD (from 0730H up to 1700H)

The travel arrangements will be made by Shell. Your stay at the Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa will be fully paid by Shell (muahahahah). If you are staying outside of Klang Valley, you are entitled for the accommodation. It was very near with Shell Business Service Centre. All of the info (hotel booking, travel claims, briefing about the SRD, etc.) regarding SRD are in the Cyberjaya_SRD_Pack which is available in their site.

Job Interviews - Accenture & CIMB (The Complete Banker Programme)

Hi there! It's been a while. Some updates on what I'm busy doing right now. I've got released from employment obligation with PETRONAS on 3rd July. Upset, disappointed? Yes, of course. But I've got to move on somehow :)

I went to T.E.C. at UTP and Graduan Career Fair at KL Convec. Managed to drop some of my resumes to the companies. Alhamdulillah, berkat bulan Ramadhan, dengan rezeki yang Allah kurniakan, I got few offer for job interviews. Here are some of interview experiences I would like to share with you.

Hat Yai

Alhamdulillah, just returned from a road trip to Hat Yai, Thailand. Ticket - RM110.00 (pergi balik). 24-seats coach. Thanks kepada kawan mak yang sponsor tiket. Rezeki orang menganggur :P Letih gak la naik bas 6-7 jam.

Bertolak dari Klang Sentral, on 21st June, 2300H, arrived at border Malaysia-Thailand around 0600H, 22nd June. That coach was full speed ahead. Aku tido je sepanjang journey tu. Bangun-bangun je dah sampai. Then arrived at Hat Yai City around 0800H. Their time is GMT+7:00, so they are one hour back than us. Pening gak la nak setting balik time solat kan.

Check in kat Rado Hotel - RM47.00/night (2 single beds). Tilam keras nak mampus. hahah.. Layan je beb. Hotel murah. Basic facilities semua ok. Ada air cond, tv, hot shower, towel. So here are the interesting attractions of Hat Yai that you might wanna know.

ESTCON2012

Alhamdulillah, done with ESTCON2012, a World Engineering, Science & Technology Congress, encompassed of 8 conferences all together. 

Towards joining the congress, it was a valuable experience all the way. Thanks to my supervisors, Dr. Josefina and Dr. Wan for their guidance and support. So, it was all started last year, dalam bulan 12 camtu. Dr. Josefina suggested me to try and submit the technical paper for ICCIS2012. So I gave it a shot, and my paper was accepted. It was a tough work, dengan takde apa-apa pengalaman pasal submit paper ke conference ni, dengan nak deal dengan final year lagi, project testing, bla bla bla, I truly find it was quite a challenge for me during that time. I even stayed back during semester break (January 2012) just to finish the technical paper. Format for IEEE technical paper is freaking detail; mind you. Funded by Short Term Internal Research Fund of UTP, I registered for the conference. It's not cheap to register, early-bird registration is RM1.4K for local student. haha gila.

I was the oral presenter for the paper. Debar dia tak payah cakap lah kan. My session was scheduled on the 2nd day (13th June), 1400-1600H, Room 407. After 2-3 minutes of presentation, I get used to the audience (tak ramai pun) and the room.. then dah tak berdebar sangat. In fact, I enjoyed giving the whole presentation! :D

After the presentation, as usual there were few questions from the audience. Aku rasa aku dah berikan jawapan yang memuaskan hati semua pihak, tanpa lebih masa, I ended my presentation. Then, there was a senior lecturer from UNIMAS, interested with the project and planned to replicate it for his undergraduate student. Haha. Terkejut aku. He planned to add some computer intelligence in developing the AVD, to detect pauses in the movie. whoaa. If so student dia boleh develop benda tu, it would be awesome.

PETRONAS Structured Interview

After the final exam, some of us need to attend the structured interview with PETRONAS (no more ability test, given that your current CGPA is 2.75 and above (both for engineering and technology stream), you are able to attend the SI).

Mine was scheduled on the 16th May, 0800H, with Panel 1.

All that I can remember is that I was interviewed by one of the staff from PCSB Miri and one is from PGB Segamat. Their exact names and positions... I can't remember, because I was too nervous. hahah. One of the interviewer was very active, the other one, very calm. diammm je.. stare je apa aku jawab. I'm not sure what he's trying to do actually. observe non verbal cues made by interviewee kot.

Before the interview starts, you need to fill in some forms. One of it is in Bahasa Malaysia. -__-

Referees' details, declare if any of family members or relatives ada kerja dengan Petronas ke tak, preferred functional skill groups (HR/ Business Development/ Marketing/ Corporate Affair/ IT/ etc.), and other basic details. You need to hand in the certified true copies of the documents that you have to bring for the interview.

At the mean time, you have to prepare for the case study as well. Biasanya dia bagi 30 minit untuk prepare. Tulislah apa patut atas A4 kosong yang dia bagi untuk prepare tu. The case study should not be scribbled. But I did. hahah.

So, the interview was divided into 3 parts (about two hours, aku masuk pukul 9.15 am, habis dalam pukul 11.30 am. phewwwhhh):

Some words of wisdom, found in the internet. 2012 will be another significant change of phase in my life. InsyaAllah, I will finish my degree in somewhere end of May 2012. What the future might bring, it does scares me a lot. The uncertainties that scares me. Those things that we don't really know about.

 

Tips Lajukan Surfing Pakai Firefox

This post specifically for Firefox users macam aku ni. Aku tak berapa ingat mana sumber dia ni. Tapi lama dah simpan dalam laptop, baru hari ni nak share. Hehe. So, I tried and it works, even aku pakai broadband pun! Now it's your turn to give it a shot. Simple steps maah. 
 


1. Buka firefox anda, dan taip kat address tu > about:config
2. Right click kat mana-mana pastu select New > Integer dan paste skrip berikut: nglayout.initialpaint.delay pastu set: 300

kalau tak berpuas hati dgn 300, boleh disetkan kepada: 0

kalau masih tak suka dgn kelajuannya, cuba yg ini pula, type skali lagi: about:config

1. tengok config tu dan scroll down sampai jumpa skrip tersebut:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

2. double click kat situ utk tukar false tu kepada true, contohnya:

network.http.pipelining - true
network.http.proxy.pipelining - true
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests - 30 (sekali request 30 mai)

3. pastu type skali lg: about:config dan select New > Integer dan paste skrip tersebut: nglayout.initialpaint.delay set kepada: 0

dan restart Firefox!
